The Situation

Soluinca was paying way too much for legacy hosting that barely worked. The site was hard to update, crashed regularly, wasn’t mobile-friendly, and the hosting costs were honestly ridiculous for what they were getting. They needed to move to something affordable that they could actually manage on their own.

Migration Strategy

Moving off a legacy platform takes some planning, so we did it in stages:

Content Audit

  • Went through every page and cataloged what they had
  • Figured out what to keep, what to rewrite, and what to cut
  • Mapped old URLs to the new structure
  • Set up redirects so they didn’t lose their SEO

WordPress Setup

  • Picked the right theme and plugins for their needs
  • Configured security and performance settings
  • Set up backup and recovery procedures so nothing gets lost

Content Migration

  • Moved content over in phases instead of all at once
  • Verified formatting and links at each stage
  • Kept the old site running the whole time so there was no downtime

Training the Team

The whole point of this project was making sure Soluinca’s team could run things without needing me. So I put a lot of effort into the handoff.

Custom Video Tutorials

I recorded step-by-step videos for everything they’d need to do:

  • Adding and editing pages
  • Uploading images and documents
  • Managing navigation menus
  • Basic troubleshooting when something looks off

Hands-On Sessions

I ran training sessions where team members actually practiced making real updates, asked questions, and got comfortable with the system. People learn better by doing, so that’s what we did.

Documentation

I left behind clear docs:

  • Quick reference guides for common tasks
  • FAQ for the issues that come up the most
  • Contact info for support
  • Links to helpful resources

The Outcome

The new site runs on affordable self-managed hosting, the team can update content whenever they need to, and the whole thing looks modern and professional. Hosting and maintenance costs dropped significantly.

The part I care about most is that the team feels confident managing it themselves. That was the goal from the start.
