Building a healthcare site that updates itself
The Project
I built this one while working at Rise Agency. Deliver Health needed a site that their team could keep updated without calling a developer every time they published a blog post or changed some copy. Pretty standard ask for a healthcare company, but the details mattered a lot because the people using this site are often looking for health information, so everything needed to be clear and fast.
Automated Content Updates
The main thing I built was a system that automatically pulls the latest blog posts to the homepage. The content team publishes articles, and the homepage reflects that without anyone needing to touch code or rearrange widgets. It sounds simple, but it meant the site always looked active and current, which is important for a healthcare company where trust matters.
Accessibility
For me, healthcare sites are one of those cases where accessibility isn’t optional. People accessing health information might be on older devices, might have vision issues, stuff like that. I made sure the typography was readable, the layout worked across all screen sizes, and the navigation made sense without having to think about it.
Performance
A lot of people visit healthcare sites from their phones, sometimes on slow connections. I optimized images, set up caching, and lazy loaded anything below the fold. The goal was to make sure the site loaded quickly even on mobile data.
Backend Structure
I set up the backend with modular ACF field groups and custom post types so the content could grow without the architecture falling apart. I also documented everything so the next developer who picked it up wouldn’t have to guess how things were organized.
How It Went
The project went well. I was able to plug into the existing team at Rise without friction, and the client was happy with how proactive we were about solving problems before they became blockers.
Working on something similar?
I'd love to hear what you're building. For me, the best projects start with a good conversation, so feel free to reach out.
